Characters are private: only you can open or change them. A DM can read the sheet of a character you seat in their campaign.
Building
Choose My Characters → New character. A wizard walks you through:
- Basics: name and ruleset.
- Race (species), with its traits and any choices it offers.
- Class, including skill and equipment choices.
- Background.
- Ability scores: point buy, the standard array, or enter your own (for example rolled) scores. The bonuses from your other choices are added for you.
- Spellcasting, if your class casts spells at first level.
- Equipment: your class and background’s starting equipment, with its choices.
- Details: appearance, personality and backstory.
- Review: everything still to choose is listed here before you finish.
Each step is saved as you go, so you can leave and come back later.
Sheet
The character sheet works out every number for you: ability modifiers, saves, skills, armour class, attacks, carrying capacity. During play you track things on it directly:
- Hit points: damage, healing and temporary hit points, then death saves at zero.
- Conditions and exhaustion.
- Hit dice, spell slots and class resources such as Rage or Ki.
- Short and long rests, which restore what each rest restores.
You can also upload a portrait and change the details at any time.
Spells
Each spellcasting class keeps its own spell list. Learn or prepare spells from the sheet, and cast them; casting uses up the right slot. Spells granted by your species or a feat have their own uses and are cast from the same place.
Inventory
Add items from the equipment and magic item lists, equip and unequip what you wear or wield, and drop what you no longer carry. The sheet shows how much you carry against your capacity. Coins can be changed between denominations.
Level up
Level up adds a level in your current class or a new one (multiclassing, if you meet its ability requirements). It asks for each choice in turn: hit points, new features, a subclass, an ability score improvement or feat, and new spells.
Convert
Convert rebuilds a character in another ruleset, for example from the 2014 to the 2024 rules. It keeps what carries over and asks you about the rest.
Export
Export downloads the character as a file; Import on the character list loads one back, on this or another account. Print gives you a printable sheet.
