Any signed-in user can write their own races, classes, subclasses, backgrounds, feats, traits, languages, proficiencies, spells, monsters, equipment, magic items, conditions, glossary entries and deities. Homebrew sits beside the official content and can be used everywhere official content can, including in the character builder.
Writing
On any list, choose New to start from scratch, or open an official entry and choose Duplicate to start from a copy. Text fields take markdown.
Each piece of homebrew has a Visible to setting:
- Only me: nobody else sees it.
- My campaigns: the people you play with (in campaigns you run or play in) see it.
- Everyone signed in: every user with an account sees it. Visitors who aren’t signed in only ever see official content.
Your homebrew can build on official content and on your own homebrew, never on someone else’s private entries. There is a limit on how many entries one account can write.
My homebrew
My Homebrew in the sidebar lists everything you have written, across all content types. You can edit or delete your own entries at any time. An entry that a character or another document still uses can’t be deleted until nothing uses it any more. Each entry’s page shows its change history.
